WHAT WE DO
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Dissemination and Talks
In 2014 we organized a meeting to present our project to the local communities. The meeting was impressively attended. Our aim is organizing other talks and local and interregional presentations to raise awareness about the rich cultural landscape of the river Sile. Beside we are also writing an archaeological guide of the site.
Future Objectives
During PHASE I, carried out between November 2014 and March 2015, we planned and completed a first survey of the existing wrecks. The wrecks were recorded by plans and maps with GPS and Total station. A preliminary report was submitted to the regional and local Authorities. The report was endorsed by Ca'Foscari University of Venice and by the Regional Office of Cultural Heritage (Soprintendenza). They both showed interest to implent more research in the area and to protect the site with a declaration of cultural interest.
This was a very success for us and for the locals.
The other phases planned are the following:
PHASE II (March 2015- March 2016): writing and publishing a divulgative guide + participating to conferences and meetings to find sponsor for the project;
PHASE III-18 (2016): starting a research along the river involving local communities, students, volunteers and associations to map all the archaeological existing evidences and creating an archive of the memories of the river, to preserve the identity of the local communities and inspiring future development projects. The archive should be related to other aspects of the river such as the landscape and its natural resources.
